Save your energy for mountain trails instead of carrying heavy suitcases up stairs. Pick a luggage storage spot directly on your route between high-speed train stations, Tianmen Mountain, and Wulingyuan entrances.
Choose a point you will pass again
If you are returning to sleep in the same room, leave your bags at the hotel front desk. When changing hotels, store your luggage along the way from your last sightseeing stop to your next base or station.
Zhangjiajie West Railway Station (张家界西站) handles most high-speed trains. It is separate from the older Zhangjiajie Railway Station (张家界站) downtown. Check the Chinese station name on your train ticket before picking a storage shop.
| Your travel plan | Best storage area |
|---|---|
| Sightseeing followed by a train at West station | Near Zhangjiajie West station |
| Tianmen Mountain, then moving to Wulingyuan | City hotel or a shop near the Tianmen cableway |
| Forest park hiking with another night in town | Your Wulingyuan hotel or near the East Gate |
| Forest park day ending with an onward bus | Wulingyuan bus station (collect before 20:00) |
| Collecting luggage after midnight downtown | 24-hour shop near the central city station |
Near the two railway stations
The Cunzj West station supermarket point (张家界西站寄存点(超市)) is roughly 400 m from the station exits. It is open 08:00 to 24:00 daily. It costs CNY 10 (≈ USD 1.5 ≈ USD 1.5) per suitcase and CNY 5 (≈ USD 0.75 ≈ USD 0.75) per small bag per day. This is the handiest choice before a high-speed train departure.
The Cunzj city-station counter (张家界站寄存点(寄存处)) is open 06:00 to 24:00 daily. It sits about 30 m from the central railway station entrance and 50 m from Zhangjiajie Central Bus Station (张家界中心汽车站). It charges the same rates and works well for early arrivals or bus connections.
If you need to collect bags late at night, the Cunzj city-station inn point (张家界站寄存点(客栈)) is open 24 hours daily. It is located 300 m from the downtown train station and 100 m from the central bus station, with rates of CNY 10 (≈ USD 1.5 ≈ USD 1.5) per suitcase and CNY 5 (≈ USD 0.75 ≈ USD 0.75) per small bag, per item per day.
These locations are staffed partner shops. Book your spot through the platform, then follow the listed address and navigation map to the door.
Around Tianmen Mountain

The Toojd Tianmen Cableway/Fangyuanhui storage point (天门山索道/方圆荟·寄存点) sits about 200 m from the downtown cableway station. It opens from 08:30 to 21:00 daily and charges CNY 10 (≈ USD 1.5 ≈ USD 1.5) per suitcase and CNY 5 (≈ USD 0.75 ≈ USD 0.75) per small bag per day. It works well if you want to explore downtown before traveling to Wulingyuan.
Tianmen Mountain also runs an official luggage service at the city lower cableway station square (天门山索道下站广场) on Dayong Road (大庸路). Same-day storage costs CNY 5 (≈ USD 0.75 ≈ USD 0.75) for standard bags and CNY 10 (≈ USD 1.5 ≈ USD 1.5) for large bags (over 15 kg or total dimensions over 1.2 m). Collect bags that day before the last visitors finish descending. For evening or overnight storage, use a partner shop or hotel.
Route C returns to the mountain gate, several kilometers from the downtown cableway station. Leave bags at your city hotel or a convenient downtown storage shop, then pick them up after taking the free shuttle bus or a taxi back to the city. The Tianmen route guide shows the full circuit, while our departure-day plan helps you time luggage pickup before your train or flight.
In Wulingyuan and near the forest park
The Toojd Wulingyuan scenic-area point (武陵源风景区·寄存点) is roughly 200 m from the East Gate. It opens from 07:00 to 22:00 daily, making it ideal for early park hikers returning to the same gate. Rates are CNY 10 (≈ USD 1.5 ≈ USD 1.5) per suitcase and CNY 5 (≈ USD 0.75 ≈ USD 0.75) per small bag per calendar day.
The Toojd Wulingyuan bus-station point (武陵源汽车客运站·寄存点) is 90 m from the bus station south gate, open 09:00 to 20:00 daily at the same price. Use this spot if taking an intercity bus right after hiking.
Check the East Gate and Wulingyuan Bus Station (武陵源汽车站) on the map. Read our forest-park entrance guide to match your entry gate with your bag pickup point.
If staying overnight in Wulingyuan before and after visiting the park, leaving bags at your hotel desk saves an extra trip to a storage shop.
Book and use the right bag category
For Cunzj (存知己寄存), search its mini-program on WeChat or use the direct branch link. Pick your dates, branch, and number of bags, then complete payment to view the store address and phone number. Show your order screen at the counter. The suitcase rate covers items from 13 to 30 inches and large hiking packs. Small daypacks use the small-bag rate. To extend your booking, open the order and tap 延期取回 (extend collection).
For Toojd (途简单), pick Zhangjiajie and your preferred shop, then select the dates and bag sizes. The small-bag category covers items where the longest side is less than 45 cm. Suitcases can be up to 30 inches. Once booked, the screen reveals the street address, storefront photo, and map pin. Scan the counter code when dropping off your items. Toojd charges by calendar day, so items kept past midnight roll into an extra day.
The Cunzj workflow uses WeChat Pay. If a payment with a linked overseas bank card fails, use the platform's online customer service. A same-point storage order keeps the bag at that shop. Collection from another location uses a separate luggage-delivery order.
Practical tips
- Choose storage beside the entrance and exit you will use that day. An East Gate park visit fits Wulingyuan storage; a Tianmen visit fits city storage. This keeps collection directly on your route.
- For a large or oddly shaped suitcase, check the usable locker space before paying. The staffed shops above accept suitcases up to 30 inches. Keep your booking or claim slip and agree on the collection check when leaving the bag.
- Collect your bags before heading to your departure station or airport. Plan collection around your train boarding time.
- Keep your US passport, transit tickets, money, and electronics in your daypack, as storage shops do not hold valuables.
- When leaving bags at your hotel front desk, use these helpful phrases: 今天最晚几点取行李? (What is the latest time I can pick up my bags today?) or 我要明天取行李。 (I will collect my luggage tomorrow).
- Keep large luggage at a single base in the city or Wulingyuan, and take only a light daypack for trails and cable cars.
