Match meals to your hotel and daily itinerary

For halal meals, base your Tianmen Mountain day near the downtown cableway station or Nanmenkou (南门口). For forest park days, stay around Wulingyuan's east entrance, the landmark gate (标志门), and eat along Wuling Road. These town bases make evening dinners and trail takeaway simple to organize.

Your day Recommended meal plan

Choose where to stay based on your route. The national forest park guide and Tianmen Mountain guide detail paths for each area.

City center: noodles near Tianmen and lamb dishes near the pedestrian street

Search 兰州牛肉面清真餐厅 at 永定区大庸路9号. This northwest Chinese Muslim restaurant is a solid stop when staying downtown or heading to Tianmen Mountain. Expect to spend around CNY 35 (≈ USD 5.2 ) per person. Opening hours are 09:00–22:00.

A hot bowl of 牛肉面 (beef hand-pulled noodles) makes a fast solo meal. For groups sharing dishes, add 羊肉串 (lamb skewers), 手抓羊肉 (boiled lamb), and 大盘鸡 (spicy big-plate chicken). The menu also offers 手工酸奶 (handmade yogurt).

Copy both the Chinese name and the Dayong Road address into your navigation app to find the exact shop, as many noodle shops across town share similar names.

For a shared dinner near the city pedestrian street, choose 清真青海味道马氏烧烤炒菜面食 at 淘宝街南门口美食街1X021号(东北铁锅炖隔壁). Expect to spend about CNY 60 (≈ USD 9.0 ) per person. The restaurant has large tables and serves 羊蝎子火锅 (lamb-spine hotpot), grilled skewers, and stir-fried dishes. Popular orders include 羊肉串 (lamb skewers), 大盘鸡 (big-plate chicken), and 手抓羊肉 (boiled lamb).

Wulingyuan: Wuling Road noodle and Xinjiang dining

Entrance of the Wuling Road Lanzhou noodle restaurant with halal signs

清真·大西北兰州拉面餐厅(武陵路店) sits at 武陵路576号, right beside Tianzi Hotel (天子大酒店). It also appears on maps under the shorter name 穆斯林餐厅 (Muslim Restaurant). Contact number is +86 159 0744 9412. Average spending is about CNY 30 (≈ USD 4.5 ) per person.

Beef noodles work well for a quick bite. For a group dinner, order lamb skewers, boiled lamb, or 炒馕 (stir-fried flatbread). 汤面片 (dough-patch soup) offers another warming soup option. The kitchen also prepares big-plate chicken.

Opening hours are 09:00–21:00. Stop here for dinner after returning from the park trails.

For Xinjiang dishes to share after the forest park, choose 丝路湘西·清真西域新疆菜(武陵源店) at 军地坪街道吴家峪居委会武陵路543号. Expect about CNY 77 (≈ USD 12 ) per person. Popular orders include 大盘鸡 (big-plate chicken served with broad noodles), 新疆抓饭羊排 (lamb ribs with pilaf), 馕坑肉 (oven-roasted meat), and 过油肉拌面 (noodles with stir-fried meat).

Gaoyun Road: Sailaimu at Neodalle Resort

赛俩目特色餐厅 is located inside 张家界纳百利豪生度假酒店 (Howard Johnson Neodalle Resort Zhangjiajie) at 高云路168号 in Wulingyuan. Older listings may still refer to the property as Crowne Plaza; use its current name when searching.

The restaurant offers an à la carte lunch and dinner, with Asian and Turkish food and a stated halal dining option. Its current restaurant hours are 12:00–22:00 daily. The hotel's number is +86 744 599 9999. Ask for Sailaimu when arranging a meal, so the request reaches the restaurant with the halal option.

This is a useful choice if you stay on Gaoyun Road or want a table meal with companions. Ask the restaurant for its current menu and meal price when booking that table. Its dining service starts at noon; arrange your early park breakfast separately.

Checking certificates and dietary preferences

The noodle and Xinjiang restaurants use Muslim or 清真 names and descriptions. Sailaimu has a specific halal dining option in its restaurant information. Keep that branch-level distinction when choosing a meal.

If you choose restaurants by a certificate, ask the restaurant for the document covering that exact branch. Read the issuer, expiry date and covered food or kitchen. Show 请问有这家店的清真认证证书吗?: "Do you have a halal certificate for this branch?"

Ask the restaurant where its beef and lamb come from and to show supplier labels. Check the cooking oil, broth and sauces, including cooking wine. Ask whether it uses separate pots and utensils and keeps pork preparation apart. Give staff the halal requirements you follow.

Trail lunches for park and mountain days

Arrange lunch before leaving Wulingyuan or the city. Ask a chosen restaurant to pack food that suits your route, or buy sealed food carrying the halal mark you use. Flatbread, packaged snacks and fruit can make lunch simple to carry; choose the amount around your walking day.

Sailaimu opens at noon, so it fits a return meal. For a later Tianmen entry, the Dayong Road noodle restaurant can fit before the visit. Carry your own chosen lunch on a long mountain route, then have a hot meal back in town.

For a group, give the restaurant the number of people and your meal time. A shared chicken dish and individual noodle bowls suit different party sizes. Ask for the takeaway order during your town meal rather than expecting a hotel breakfast buffet to meet the same food requirements.
